27-year-old Prasanth spent 10 weeks at Prince George Electric Cooperative, learning about the the co-op's IT systems.
From India to Texas to now Virginia, 27-year-old Prasanth Chintalapati’s passion for technology has taken him across the world in pursuit of new opportunities.
Prasanth earned his undergraduate degree in computer science from Keshav Memorial Institute of Technology in Hyderabad, India in 2023. A year later, he made the move to San Antonio, Texas, where he attended Texas A&M University to pursue his master’s degree in computer science.
With two degrees and a growing foundation in technology, Prasanth was eager to gain hands-on experience in the workforce. That's when he learned about the IT internship program at Prince George Electric Cooperative.
“The internship was like a springboard for me for my future career. It gave me some confidence on how to do actual projects,” Prasanth says.
Prasanth began his 10-week internship in August 2026 quickly becoming immersed in the cooperative’s IT operations. Throughout his time at PGEC, he worked alongside IT System Administrators Aramide Ajayi and Jonas Byrge, who helped guide his professional development.
“They were like gurus to me,” Prasanth said. “They taught me how each minute thing in the networking world works.”
Beyond expanding his technological knowledge, the internship also gave Prasanth an opportunity to learn how technology supports the electric cooperative industry.
“I learned a lot about how the actual co-op world runs, and it taught me many things, like how the switch devices work and what substations are,” he adds.
As his internship comes to a close, Prasanth hopes to put his experience to work in Virginia. He has been interviewing for IT positions in Norfolk and Richmond as he looks forward to the next chapter of his career.
“I’m proud that I had an opportunity to work at PGEC; I’m proud that I learned something about cybersecurity and the networking, and it was great to be at the co-op,” Prasanth says.
