Prince George Electric Cooperative (PGEC) is inviting high school and home-schooled sophomores and juniors to take part in an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: the National Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Tour.
The Youth Tour brings students from across the country to Washington, D.C., June 15–19, 2026, for an immersive educational experience that combines leadership development, civic engagement, and hands-on learning about electric cooperatives and government. Students will tour historic landmarks, meet with elected officials, and build lasting friendships with peers who share a passion for leadership and community service.
Eligible applicants must be sophomores or juniors in high school (or home-schooled equivalents) whose parent or legal guardian is an electric service member of PGEC.
“Youth Tour is more than a trip—it’s a transformative experience,” said Brittany Tann, the co-op’s senior communications specialist. “Students return home inspired, confident, and more aware of how leadership and civic involvement can shape their futures. We encourage students who are curious, motivated, and eager to grow to apply.”
Participants gain firsthand insight into how electric cooperatives operate, learn about the cooperative principles, and explore how public policy impacts rural communities—all while experiencing the nation’s capital alongside students from across the United States.
