Waverly, Va — October 17, 2025 — Demonstrating their continued commitment to community service and environmental stewardship, employees of Prince George Electric Cooperative came together for their annual Adopt-A-Highway cleanup, collecting 845 pounds of trash along the stretch of George Town, Spring Hill, Shingleton, Beaver Dam and parts of Walnut Hill Road.
This marks another successful year in the cooperative’s participation in the Adopt-A-Highway program, which encourages organizations to maintain sections of public roadway through regular litter removal. Nearly 60 employees participated to help beautify the area and keep roadways safe and clean for residents and travelers alike.
“It’s incredibly rewarding to give back to our community in a hands-on way,” said Shardae Watkins, the co-op’s accounting assistant. “We spend a lot of time in the office or out in the field serving our members but taking part in this cleanup reminds us that being a cooperative means doing more—supporting the places we live and work, even beyond the power lines.”
The effort is part of the co-op ’s broader mission to serve the community not only with reliable, affordable energy, but also with civic engagement and environmental responsibility. Over the years, the cooperative’s Adopt-A-Highway initiative has removed thousands of pounds of waste from local roadsides, highlighting the power of teamwork and community pride.
