For 87 years, Prince George Electric Cooperative has hosted its annual Members’ Meeting, welcoming the community in for a business recap of the prior year.
The 85 guests who attended the meeting in person heard from PGEC President & CEO Sarat Yellepeddi about the cooperative’s accomplishments in 2025 and its goals for the future, including plans to expand its broadband service, RURALBAND, to more members.
“The purpose of the annual meeting is to take care of the larger family of the cooperative, as well as the membership,” Yellepeddi says.
For many of the guests, the annual meeting is a must-attend event that helps them stay up to date on PGEC business. For the past 24 years, James Dawson has been in attendance, and he says he appreciates the effort that the cooperative puts in to make the meeting a success.
“When you get to come here and experience the whole thing, you really understand why PGEC makes this investment to meet their members face to face,” Dawson says.
Others, like Deborah Forbes, are newer to the cooperative, but she says she was accepted into the community by the tenured members and the PGEC staff.
“[The meeting] lets me know what’s going on, and I get to know some of the other members in the vicinity,” Forbes says.
As PGEC reflects on 87 years of bringing the community together, Yellepeddi says the cooperative will continue meeting the needs of its membership by providing exceptional service and continuing to host these educational events.
“We are here for the membership. We take care of each other as community leaders, and we want to make sure 87 years becomes 150 years,” Yellepeddi says.
